Birthday Balloons

The Sketch over at Mojo Monday  http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2011/03/mojo-monday-184.html  gives you the choice of either round or square.

I went with the square shape.  And also over at JUGs http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2011/03/just-us-girls-77-3d-challengeits-all.html  it's a 3-D challenge to make a zipper flower.  Well this is only the 2nd zipper flower that I have made and it just might be my last.  My fingers just don't work as well as they used to.
This also fits the challenge at Creative Belli Blog  http://bellichallenge.blogspot.com/2011/03/belli-challenge-think-seamtress.html

I was digging in my dp scrap box and came across these 3 papers that coordinated.  Then on my work table I had the negative piece from an inverted scalloped circle die cut.  The flower took me about 4 tries before I decided that this was good enough.  The balloons are popped up with dimentionals and tied with yellow scrapbook floss.

Stamps:  Gina K Square Pegs, In Stitches and Tag Lines senitment
cardstock:  Gina K Pure Luxury White, Wild Dandelion and Grass Green, SU blue
ink:  Colorbox Chalk Prussian Blue and Lime Pastel, VersaMagic Pink Grapefruit
accessories:  zipper, pearl brad, MS leafy branch punch, EK Success border punch, Nestabilities inverted scalloped circle, ribbon and square punch to punch the tail of the sentiment piece.

Tuesday Trigger: A Citrus Celebration

I am loving the bright, springy colors of this week's Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/03/tuesday-trigger-citrus-celebration.html  as I look out the window watching the snow storm outside.

The colors and fun polka dots are what inspired me.  The polka dot paper is the inside of a card from a pack I had picked up a couple of years ago.  All stamps used on this are from the set Square Pegs from Gina K designed by Melanie Muenchinger.  The cupcake was stamped twice, once with Memento Pear Tart on the polka dot cs and once on some checked yellow digi dp then paper pieced together.  The frosting looked too dull, so colored with a brighter yellow Prismacolor marker then covered with Sakura yellow glaze pen.  The pennants are actually the Christmas trees from the same set, stamped with VersaColor Orange pigment ink then heat embossed with clear ep.  Cut the "trees" out and layered onto the polka dots to form a banner.  The candles are a Sizzix die from the Birthday Knockout pack.  Cut the candles out then colored with Prismacolor markers and added Stickles in Diamond to the flames.  Glued the cupcake on top of the candles then onto the yellow and orange circle layers that were cut with Nesties.  The ribbon was adhered to a narrow strip of cardstock then run through a crimper, which is hard to see in the photo.  Last of all, I stamped the "celebrate" in the upper left corner in SU Only Orange.

Acrylic Smash!

Over at JUGS http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2011/03/just-us-girls-75-technique-week.html  it's technique week, and the technique is Acrylic Smash.  I had never tried this before, so therefore I thought I would give it a go.

I used the layout from Sketch #209  at CPS  http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/2011/03/cps-209-part-1.html.

I started with the acrylic piece and built the rest from there.  The stamp set Live Life Loud by Gina K was used.  Stamped the gradient dot pattern onto the acetate sheet using Stazon Black ink and cut out with a Nesties label die.  Cut a piece of white cs with the same Nestie die and smeared orange and yellow craft paint on white cs, placed it against the acetate piece and let dry.   Used the same label die for the yellow layer and sponged black ink before removing it from the die.  The guitar was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with black ep, colored with Prismacolor markers, cut out and layered over the acrylic smash layer.  The music score is from the Gina K Set Vintage Borders.  Stamped the score to cover white cs, then sponged on Memento Dandelion, Tangelo and Lady Bug.  Thought it looked too light, so sponged black around the edges.  Used a strip of Tim Holtz paper tape and stamped the sentiment just below the tape.  Layered it all onto the Gina K Wild Dandelion card base.

Moxie Fab Oh So Lovely!

This week's Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/03/tuesday-trigger-oh-so-lovely.html uses such beautiful colors.

When I saw this, I knew I had to used Melanie's new set from Gina K Designs - Spring Basket.

I first stamped the flowers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then masked them and stamped the basket.  Colored them with Prismacolor markers, trying to keep with the colors of the inspiration bouquet.  The image was then cut using the out-of-the-box technique.  Layered the image onto some Sage Shadow cs.  Cut the scalloped strip using Bo Bunny dp with a scalloped Nestabilities die and layered on some fun paper lace by K & Company.  Stamped the large flourish from the Kitchen Sink Stamps set - Big and Bold Swashes with VersaMagic Oasis Green.
