CASEing Cammie

Over at the Mod Squad Challenge - Are You on the CASE? - you are to pick a card of someone else's that inspires you and CASE it.   I chose this card by Carolyn King aka Cammie.

ck rock star
And also for the Over the Edge challenge at CAS-ual Fridays, to have some element extend beyond the edge.

I changed the colors and the shape of the window.  Added a strip of washi tape and added some white gel pen dots to the scalloped border piece.  The star at the top extends slightly over the edge. I used the same stamp set by Gina K - Stars.  Stars and sentiment stamped with Adirondack Denim ink.
Thanks for taking a look!

Just Us Girls Challenge #225

Marisa is our challenge hostess this week for the Photo Inspiration at Just Us Girls.  Love the photo filled with so much inspiration.

Don't forget to check out our Guest Designer's creation, Scrappy Geri!

This is pretty quick and simple!  Stamped the heart trio with Memento Luxe Love Letter and heat embossed with clear ep.   Added a strip of washi tape and I had to add the black pearls with one of my new Viva Decor Paper Pens.  Die cut the edge of the red cs with a Spellbinders die.  Put it all together and tied some black and white baker's twine then mounted on a kraft base.

Just a reminder, winning  the Chic of the Week puts you in the running for the Guest Designer spot.  The Chic picked from the January challenges will be invited to join the team as our Guest Designer for the month of March.

Sparkly Birthday

Made a birthday card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge
The Card Concept to use texture
And the Mod Squad Challenge "What Wood You Create"

The gold star is wood that I first painted, but didn't like it.  Then repainted it and still didn't like it so I covered it with yellow Stickles.  Embossed the banner and the background.  The silver star is die cut from glitter cardstock.  The sentiment is from Gina K and added a couple of Viva Decor Paint Pen dots.  A white Sakura Souffle gel pen was used for the dots on the banner.

Stamplorations Sketch

Playing with the sketch from Stamplorations

Great sketch!  Stamped and embossed the hearts then cut them out.  Stamped the sentiment and punched out with the word window punch, then added a dot of Viva Decor Paper Pen and added glitter to the little sentiment heart.  Used a strip of washi tape, adhered the hearts and sentiment all on kraft cardstock then onto a red base.

Thanks for taking a look!

With Deepest Sympathy

I needed a sympathy card today, so I drew from the inspiration of a couple of challenges.

The Mod Squad Challenge is "What Wood you Create"

The Card Concept is to use texture

I also used the sketch from My Favorite Things Weekly Stamp ClubMFTWSC160

The sentiment didn't quite fit the die, so I stamped it on ivory and trimmed it close, then attached it to the die cut.  Stamped the banner with a Canvas stamp with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.  Used the same Distress Ink to sponge around the circle and the banner.  Used a strip of burlap paper by DCWV, it's actually burlap on the top and backed by paper.  Added some little wooden pine trees.  Cardstock used:  Core'dinations Shattered, Gina K Warm Cocoa, Mustard and Kraft.
I guess this would be considered Freestyle Collage style for The Card Concept Challenge.

Busy Birthday

I came across a couple of challenges that My Favorite Things has going on:

Wednesday Stamp Club - Get Sketchy
MFTWSC159
And a color challenge at Color Palette Challenge

color-palette-banner-animat

I followed the sketch and used the colors, but with a deeper pink than the picture.  I had to add some washi tape since I have so many rolls and need to use it more and my new Viva Decor Pearl Pens.  Stamped the flourish with Versamark and then added the Pearl Pen pearls.  Added Pearl Pen black pearls to the punched border.  After laying it on the card base, it needed a little something, so stamped the white flourishes.

Just Us Girls Challenge #224

Vicki is our hostess this week with a beautiful color challenge at Just Us Girls!

I didn't have the exact colors listed for this challenge, but substituted with Gina K's Ocean Mist and Turquoise Sea.  I used a couple of Gina K sets and a CASual Fridays sentiment.  The flowers were stamped with Versamark and then Vivid Teal and heat embossed with clear ep.  Did the same with the sentiment over the flower stems and added a Sizzix bookplate die and attached with brads.  The centers of the flowers were made with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen and colored with a Prismacolor marker to make it the right shade.  Lightly sponged around the edges of the kraft layers with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

I am also adding the first card I made for this challenge

From the Bottom of My Heart

There's a new challenge blog - The Card Concept and this is their first challenge.

We are supposed to choose a style as well as use the colors in the inspiration photo.  I have never really thought about what style my cards fit into, but I am going to take a stab at this being Shabby Chic out of the choices they listed.  The pink looks pretty red in this photo, but it is Passionate Pink by SU.  Stamps used are by Gina K:  Simple Hearts and Happy Hearts.  Frayed Burlap Distress Ink was sponged around the hearts.  The little hearts are covered with Liquid Pearls and the little pearls were made with a Cream Paper Pen. Stamped the hexagon border in Versamark then Passionate Pink on kraft and heat embossed with clear ep, I think the embossing is what is making this look so red.  Tinted the baker's twine with Antique Linen Distress Stain to make the white look more cream or kraft.

Thanks for taking a look!

Just Us Girls Challenge #223

Sharyn has a fun technique challenge for us this week at Just Us Girls!

I feel like I need these bright colors as I sit here in the cold and snow.  Stamped the SU flamingo on Neenah Solar white and then onto a couple different scraps of dp from my stash.  Pieced the dp pieces onto the flamingo and balloon. Colored the beak and legs with a Primacolor marker and the hat with Sakura Stardust gel pens in aqua and orange.  I first stamped the "HAPPY" (Pink Paislee) directly onto the image panel, but messed it up, so re-stamped it on another piece of cardstock and trimmed it to fit across the top.   It looked too plain so decided to add some dots with a Sakura Stardust aqua gel pen.  Added a strip of washi tape and tied on some twine.  Stamped "birthday" (CAS-ual Fridays) with Memento Rose Bud and Versamark and added some Stampendous Crystal embossing powder on GK Wild Dandelion.  Die cut the edge of the GK Passionate Pink layer and added Liquid Pearls.

Remember that our Chics of the Week have the chance to be a Guest Designer, so the more you play the more chances you have to be a JUGs Guest Designer!

A Feather for a Friend

I combined three challenges for this card:

Stamplorations Blog - Stamps and Feathers

Addicted to CAS - Die Cuts

And the new Mod Squad Challenge - A few of Cat's Favorite Things - you have to choose at least 3 items from her list.

The feather was stamped and die cut, then colored with alcohol markers.  Die cut the kraft tag and stamped a sentiment on it, added a strip of washi tape and adhered the feather.  Folded a word window punch in half and attached to the top of the tag and tied with baker's twine.  Stamped some flourishes on the aqua card base then attached the tag.
For the Mod Squad Challenge I used:  die cuts, kraft cardstock, twine and Copic markers

Just Us Girls Sketch Challenge

Nancy has brought us a cool new sketch for our challenge this week.

And we are all so pleased to welcome our January Guest Designer Geraldine Bailly.  Stop by her blog -  Scrappy Geri to see her amazing creations.

I needed a break from Christmas cards and wanted some bright, sunshiny colors.  Stamped the balloons and arrows with Hero Arts Neon Inks and used a black gel pen to make the strings.  Stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx black ink.  Quick and easy.
Stamps:  Gina K Square Pegs and CAS-ual Fridays - Shenanigans and Rad
