Just Us Girls Photo Week

Cheryl has a fun photo for our inspiration this week at Just Us Girls.  This photo is full of inspiration with the pretty colors and elements of spring.

I would like to thank Jen Mitchell, our March Guest Designer for all of her wonderful creations this past month.  It has been a real pleasure having you join us.  Now hop on over to Just Us Girls Challenge Blog to see what Jen and the rest of the Design Team were inspired by in this photo.

Vase and flowers from Gina K.  Stamped the flowers and colored with Inktense watercolor pencils and Wink of Stella clear pen, then cut them out.  Stamped the vase with Memento Dandelion ink and sponged Cantelope around the edges for more depth and cut that out.  Added a strip of yellow polka dot washi tape and solid pink washi tape.  Die cut the happy from some lined polka dot paper (free download from Mel Stampz).  Added a piece of green gingham paper from my stash.

Come play with us at JUGS and show us what inspires you from the photo.  You could be chosen as our Chic of the Week, which would enter you for a chance to be our Guest Designer for the month of May.  Please limit your entries to 3.

New Stamps

Playing with my new WPlus9 stamps - Pretty Little Peonies.  I used the sketch from Retro Sketches

.

These multi-step stamps have such beautiful results!  Stamped the flowers in shades of pink and the leaves in shades of green and used the coordinating dies.  Used some soft pink vellum to stamp the sentiment on and layer behind the black frame.

So glad you stopped by!

And using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

I used a couple of old sets for this from SU and Gina K.  Stamped the globe from SU then stamped the crab from Gina K.  Colored with Prismacolor markers.  Added some sand embossing powder to the bottom of the globe and heat embossed.  Covered the entire globe with Wink of Stella clear.  Stamped the sentiment with Memento Nautical Blue.  Added some strips of red polka dot and blue striped washi tape.

So glad you stopped by!

Just Us Girls Color Week

Nancy has a fun color combo for us this week at Just Us Girls.  Use Black and White and a third color of your choice!

Check out what our Guest Designer Jen Mitchell and the rest of the JUGS Team have done with these colors.

I pulled out an old embossing folder, which has been very neglected and embossed a piece of white cardstock and lightly rubbed some aqua chalk ink over the raised pieces.  Die cut a rectangle framing using 2 Spellbinders rectangle dies and another decorative Spellbinders die that fit the frame perfectly,  Covered the frame with black glitter.  Heat embossed the wedding dress with white ep and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx.  Added the Sizzix flourish.

One more that was very quick and easy.  Tim Holtz Burlap stencil used with Delicata Golden Glitz ink sponged.  Then using my MISTI stamped the flowers and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink for perfect placement and coverage.  Added a strip of washi tape down the edge.
I am also entering this one in the Time Out Challenge - Clean and Simple with the optional twist of black and white with a Splash of One Colour.

Now it's your turn to get out your black and white inks, cardstock, embellishments, etc. and add  your own choice of the third color and play along with us!

A Sketch and Color Combo

One more for the Colour Me Challenge

And CAS(E) This Sketch

Stamped the leaves with Memento Bamboo and the flowers and sentiment with Memento Olive Grove.  These were my substitutions for the listed colors.  Cut the panels and adhered with repositional adhesive and stamped the leaves.  Cut the mat layers and pieced it all together.  The floral image is stamped by using Distress Markers then blending the colors with a clear Wink of Stella pen.  At first I stamped the sentiment directly on the panel, but it got lost, so stamped again and punched out with the word window punch and added a couple dots of Viva Decor Paper Pen in Kiwi.

Thanks for visiting!

Leprechaun Frog

Using the color combo from Colour Me - Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz

I used Gina K Inspirational Mosaic and colored some of the blocks with a Prismacolor marker.  The frog is from Imagenesce and his masked hat and sentiment are Studio G.  I stamped the masked frog and hat, colored him with Prismacolor markers then cut him out and added him to the card.

Thanks for dropping in!

Just Us Girls Trend Week

It's my turn to bring you this week's trend challenge at Just Us Girls.  It seems like everyone is adding splatters to their cards of all styles, so our challenge to you this week is to add some Splatters.  This is truly a challenge for me because I can never seem to get that delicate look that I see on other's creations, so I bought a couple different stencils that have splatters on them!

Check out what  Jen Mitchell, our March Guest Designer and the rest of the JUGS Design Team have done with splatters.

I used a stencil for the splatters in the middle and then got brave and added some more with some watered down ink and a paint brush!  This might be just a little overboard.  I had to add some washi tape due to a black smudge on the lower right.  I used my new Moon Glow Sakura gel pens to fill in the dots on the sentiment.

I had to make one more.  The big yellow splat is a stencil that I used some yellow Heidi Swapp Shine Mist and then added some smaller splatters with some pink Shine Mist.  Stamped the sentiment with Memento Danube Blue.  I wish I would have embossed the sentiment to make it bolder now.

Join us at Just Us Girls and show us your Splatters!  You have until next Thursday, March 19 at 9 pm.  You could be our next Chic of the Week!

Birthday Boy

Using the sketch from The Male Room.

And the theme from Seize the Birthday - optional toppings "Masculine"

A pre-made polka dot card base was used.  Die cut the balloons and sponged the edges to give them a little depth.  Stamped the strings and went over them with a black gel pen.  Triple die cut and adhered the happy and stamped the birthday and cut it out.  Pretty quick and easy.

Thanks for taking a look!

Just Us Girls Word Week

Ina has a great word for us this week at Just Us Girls - "Masculine".  I know a lot of people claim they have a difficult time creating masculine cards, so now is the time to jump in and accept this challenge.

We would like to welcome our Guest Designer for the month of March - Jen Mitchell.  Now pop on over to Just Us Girls Challenge Blog and see what Jen and the rest of the Design Team have created for this Masculine Challenge.

I needed another sympathy card for an older gentleman who had lost his son.  I pulled this blast from the past out, it's a very old SU set.  I stamped it in Memento Espresso Truffle on Core'dinations cardstock and cut the middle out making a frame.  Stamped the other ship in the same set, colored the sails with Distress Marker in Picket Fence and a damp paintbrush and colored the bottom with Distress Markers in Pumice Stone and Gathered Twigs.  Sponged the edges with more Distress Inks in Walnut Stain and Black Soot.  Striped background is from Mel Stampz and added a strip of washi tape.

Now it's your turn to show us your Masculine creations at Just Us Girls.  Who knows, you could be our next Chic of the Week, which leads to the possibility of being our next Guest Designer.  Please limit your entries to 3.

Purple/Pink Daisy for a Friend

I needed a card for a dear friend who is recovering from a stroke and there were 2 challenges that were the perfect inspiration for me.

Freshly Made Sketches

And The Card Concept - Thinking of You

Stamped and colored the Gina K A Year of Flowers daisy with Prismacolor Pencils and gamsol.  Die cut the edge with a Spellbinders die and Stamped the sentiment from Technique Tuesday in Memento black ink.  Tied on some black and white baker's twine and adhered to the polka dot card base.  Tied some twine in the button and attached with a glue dot.

Thanks for dropping by !

Time to Get Well

I combined a few challenges for this get well card.

The Male Room - Make Your Own Background Paper

Time Out - Rock Around the Clock

The Card Concept - Get Well

The background was masked and sponged with Memento Pistachio and Desert Sand.  There was a slight gap between the stripes, so I added some ScorTape and some glitter.   The cuckoo clock is from Gina K and was colored with Touch Twin Markers.  The "time to" is from Gina K Calender Bits and Pieces and the Get Well Soon is a Michael's $ stamp in Memento Espresso Truffle.  I guess this style would be considered Freestyle Collage.

Thanks for stopping by!
