Just Us Girls #413 - Wild Card Week

This month has 5 Saturdays so that means that it's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls and Nancy has a great challenge for us to use Word Die Cuts!

This is our last week with Linda Snodgrass as our Guest Designer and I would like to say thank you for joining us this past month with all of your creations!  Now, come on over to JUGS to see what Linda and the rest of the Design Team have made using Word Die Cuts..

The background was made by smearing Oxide inks on my kraft mat, spritzing and then laying a piece of tissue paper in the ink.  Let that dry, then crinkled it up into a ball, opened it back up and adhered to a piece of white cardstock. Lightly rubbed some Versamark over the raised creases and then embossed with gold ep.  Here is a You Tube video by Loll Thompson on this Tissue Paper Watercolor technique.  Stamped the hello from Concord & 9th with versamark on some purple cardstock and embossed with gold ep, then added some clear Wink of Stella.  Layered onto a piece of mirrored gold and a purple card base.

Pull out those word dies and play along with us this week and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Beachy Anniversary

I needed an anniversary card with a beach theme and the sketch at Reverse Confetti was a perfect fit!

I am also entering my card on CAS on Fridays for their challenge to use a die cut.

For your blog

I used Distress Oxide inks smeared on a kraft mat, misted and dragged the cardstock through it.  Added some drops of water on the inked backgrounds.  Die cut the RC tag and the reinforcer.  Stamped a very old and unknown fishnet stamp in Memento rich Cocoa across the bottom half of the background and added a piece of washi tape.  Die cut the sand dollar from RC and sponged some ink around the edges and placed the center star back into the main part of the shell, then added some Stickles to the openings.  Die cut some Wheat Confetti Cuts from green vellum and colored them a little darker with a Touch Twin marker and used just the tips around the upper left edge of the sand dollar.  Stamped the sentiment with a navy blue ink and die cut with the matching die.  Before putting it all together, sprayed some shimmer mist on the tag and background.  Tied some raffia onto the top of the tag.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #412 - Photo Week

It's time for our Photo Week Challenge at Just Us Girls and Ina has chosen a beautiful photo with lots of inspiration.

Pop on over to the JUGS blog to see what our Guest Designer, Linda Snodgrass and the rest of the very creative Design Team have come up with, with this photo as inspiration.

That photo is beautiful, but I didn't do it justice!  I love the colors, greenery and that birdcage, but I don't have a single birdcage in my collection.  Used Gina K's Vogue Vases for the vase and leaves embossing the vase with clear ep.  Then added the sentiment from Altenew, embossed with dark green ep.  Used a stencil on the background with some aqua ink and used the same ink to sponged around the edges.

I decided that I needed to fix this, so added some more leafy fronds.  I just don't think this card can be fixed!

Now it's your turn to create something with the photo for inspiration.  Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer.  Please limit your entries to 3.

Soccer Birthday and Cheers

Using the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch! for my grandson's birthday card.

The soccer ball was made by using a circle die cut on a hexagon embossing folder and then coloring in the spots with a black marker.  Stamped the diagonal stripes and matted on black.  Masked and stamped the sentiment on white and die cut, then masked again and stamped the happy above the banner.  Layered onto a white and green polka dot card base.

Next card is for CAS on Friday - Color Me Pretty - use pencils or markers and The Male Room technique challenge - Masking.

CAS on Sunday

First the bottles from Altenew;s Bottleful were stamped and masked.  Then masked all three bottles and stamped the striped background from Concord & 9th.  Removed the masks and colored the bottles with Prismacolor pencils and the caps with a silver marker.  Added the label to the center bottle and layered onto some Gina K Turquoise Sea for the card base.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Just Us Girls #411 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Maria has chosen some beautiful fall colors for us!

Come see what our Guest Designer, Linda Snodgrass and the rest of the JUGS Design Team have created with this gorgeous colors!

When I saw these colors, I new exactly what set I wanted to use!  Stamps and dies are from Concord & 9th.  Used some Distress Oxide inks in Fossilized Amber and Spiced Marmalade for the background.  Stamped the piece behind the leaf 3 times, staggering for more shadow effect with Distress Oxide Vintage Photo.  The leaf is many layers of colors of inks and watercolor combining as I went to get the burgundy color.  Used Charcoal Brown cardstock from Gina K for the sentiment and card base.

What do these colors inspire you to create?  Play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Autumn Thanks

Playing along with Reverse Confetti using their monthly sketch challenge as inspiration.

Using the tag, tag layer, tag topper, squiggly circle, wheat/leaves die, banner die and thanks sentiment all from Reverse Confetti.  Die cut the leaves from some embossed gold cardstock I've had forever and arranged on the circle.  Stamped the diagonal stripes for the background and found a piece of orange gingham scrap and a piece of orange polka dots in my stash.  Tied a piece of twine on the tag, put it all together and layered onto a charcoal brown card base.

Thanks for stopping by!

Double Take

I have 2 cards today for a few different challenges.

First is my clean and layered card for The Card Concept - Weathered Florals

I was inspired by the weathered door and pretty flowers.  The background was stamped with a Concord & 9th background stamp in WPlus9 white ink on kraft.  The flower and sentiment, are both from Altenew.  The flower and leaves were stamped with Altenew inks and the sentiment with Versafine Sepia.  Die cut the branch wreath from a scrap of brown cardsotck and added some Nuvo Crystal Drops to the berry tips.

This next card is for 2 challenges.  Curtain Call - Dreamcatcher

And for Cardz 4 Guyz - Something beginning with the letter "D"

Cardz 4 Guyz Logo

The "D" is dreamcatcher and diagonal.  Stamped the background with brown ink on kraft.  I had to get creative for the dreamcatcher, so I used a squiggle die from Reverse Confetti for my dreamcatcher and added some feathers from WPlus9.  The sentiment, also from Reverse Confetti was stamped in Versafine Sepia and die cut.  Added a little die cut bow to the feathers.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Just Us Girls #410 - Trend Week

It's time for a Trend challenge this week at Just Us Girls and Bobby has chosen a fun one for us, Block Watercolor Stamping!

With us again this week as our Guest Designer for the month of September is Linda Snodgrass!  Come check out the JUGS Challenge Blog to see what Linda and the rest of the talented Design Team have created using this technique.

I inked up the grid side of an acrylic block with Distress Oxide inks, misted with water and stamped onto watercolor paper.  Die cut the heart then used an embossing folder with stripes on it.  The sentiment from Altenew didn't get a clear impression so I carefully went over the letters with a white gel pen.  Tied a little bow with pink baker's twine.

Play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.
