Just Us Girls #516 - Wild Card Week

There is a 5th Saturday this week, so that means it's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls and Vicki has chosen Anything Goes!

A huge THANK YOU to Kristin Sluhan for being our Guest Designer this past month!  Visit JUGS to see what Kristin and the rest of the talented Design Team have created for this Anything Goes Challenge.

This was made for my grandson who is going to be 14.  He is already 6'5" and loves to play basketball.  I combined many sets including the basketball from Gina K, sentiment from CASual Fridays, jagged frame with stars from Fiskars, wood background from Concord & 9th and flames from Clear Stampz.  The flames were stamped with yellow, orange and red inks, then blended with Touch Twin markers then added some red glimmer paste from Gina K.  Colored the jagged frame in with a darker brown to give the effect of the basketball breaking through.  Added some yellow Wink of Stella to the stars.  The basketball was stamped first, masked and then the flames, added some painters tape to cover part of the flames and stamped the jagged frame.  The background is ivory stamped with Hero Arts Soft Sand ink.  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle and adhered to a Gina K Warm Cocoa card base.

Let you imagination run wild and join us for our Wild Card Week at JUGS!  You could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer.  Please limit your entries to 3.

Glittery Framed Sketch

Playing around with some glitter paper using the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch! and the challenge at CAS of Friday to use a frame.

CAS on Sunday

Using a set from Kaiser Kraft stamped the tree with green Stazon ink onto some gold glitter cardstock and cut out.  Used some square dies to frame the sentiment using some brushed gold and gittered gold cardstocks.  Stamped the sentiment with Memento Pine ink and added some gold gel pen to the stars.  The lower half of the card was inked with Delicata Gold Glitz ink direct to paper then added the background die over the gold ink.  It's hard to capture all of the sparkle on this card.

I really appreciate you dropping by for a closer look!

Reindeer for Christmas

Another Christmas card inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch!

The big reindeer head was made with a pear die, word window punch for the ears and a branch die for the antlers.  Die cut the head then stamped the heart for the nose and drew the mouth and eyes.  Added some chalk to the cheeks and the ears.  Sponged Distress Ink in Walnut Stain around the edge.  Added white gel pen dots to the eyes.  Used a Tim Holtz plaid stencil for the background sponging black ink onto kraft.

Hope you like my little reindeer and thanks for visiting!

Just Us Girls #515 - Photo Week

Its Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Maria has chosen a beautiful, but frozen scene for our inspiration.

Come visit JUGS to see how this photo inspired our November Guest Designer Kristin Sluhan and the rest of the amazing Design Team.

This uses some of the pieces on my desk from playing around.  The background (behind the trees) was made with hand sanitizer and Perfect Pearls, I can't remember where I saw this technique done.  It has shimmer and texture.  Die cut the trees from some wood look paper giving them some character.  The little snowman is from Gina K and was colored with Touch Twin markers and fussy cut.  The sentiment is from a Tim Holtz die set.  Added some Nuvo Drops in white spread across the bottom and sprinkled on some white and clear glitter.  Adhered it all together onto a red card base.

Now it's your turn to show us at JUGS how this Photo inspired you!  You could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Sketch in Kraft

Sneaking a card into this week's sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Used a Tim Holtz striped stencil and sponged Distress Oxide ink in Fired Brick onto kraft.  This was supposed to be stenciled directly onto the kraft card base, but the ink got where it wasn't supposed to be and the washi tape masking off the area to be inked pulled off some of the cardstock, so trimmed the panel to layer onto a Gina K Skeleton Leaves card base.  Stamped the tree from Kaiser Kraft with Memento Bamboo Leaves onto kraft.  Stamped the sentiment from Stamplorations with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink and trimmed and fishtailed the ends.

I really appreciate you dropping by for a closer look!

Just Us Girls #514 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and our multi-talented Angie is our hostess this week choosing a beautiful combination for our inspiration!

Check out JUGS to see what our Guest Designer Kristin from Lilypad Designs and the rest of the amazing Design Team have created using this color combo.

This was so hard to get a decent photo of!  Started by stamping the ornament with teal ink on some lighter teal cardstock, then stamped the design with Deco Foil Transfer Gel and foiled with teal foil.  Had a couple little smudges, so stamped the little snowflakes around the ornament and added white gel pen dots.  Die Cut different sizes of squares in the dark and light teals and inlaid them together.  I didn't like the lighter layer, so added some Wink of Stella clear shimmer pen.  Used a Tim Holtz snowflake embossing folder and embossed a piece of Core'dination teal cardstock and sanded the raised areas.  Die cut and foiled the "joy" with teal foil and layered it all onto a darker teal card base.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Twofer Holiday Greenery

Joining in on this month's challenge at Twofer Card Challenge to use Holiday Greenery.

I used the same stamp set to create a sympathy card and a Christmas card.  The full image was stamped on the sympathy card with the sentiment Peace, Prayers and Blessings and the pine cone colored with Touch Twin markers.  The Christmas card was stamped using only a part of the image stamping around the edge to frame the Peace and Joy sentiment.  I used the Gina K set Peace and Joy.

Thanks for dropping in!

Red and White Christmas

I was inspired by the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch!

Used a Tim Holtz diagonal stripe stencil and added Gina K glimmer paste in red.  After it was dry, dye cut with a tag die.  Stamped the Santa Hat from Tim Holtz and colored with Touch Twin markers and die cut with the coordinating die.  Die cut the "merry" 3 times and glued together.  Stamped Christmas and cut it out.  Added a die cut bow and a dot of Nuvo Drops in red.  Added Stardust Stickles to the white parts on the hat, the bow and the merry.

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!

Come over to JUGS to see what our November Guest Designer, Kristin Sluhan and the rest of the amazing Design Team have created.

I made some wintery coasters by stamping various snowflakes onto tumbled tiles using Stazon and Brilliance inks.  After the ink was completely dry, sprayed with a matte sealer then glued cork squares onto the back.

Come share with us your creations for anything but a card and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #512 - Word Week

It's time for Word Week at Just Us Girls and Ina has chosen a very timely Word for us.

I would like to welcome our November Guest Designer - Kristin Sluhan!  Come over to JUGS to see how Kristin and the rest of the awesome Design Team are inspired by the Word Thanks.

Using Gina K's Something Good in Every Day and the sentiment from Concord & 9th - Lace Leaf.  First stamped the flowers in fall colors on ivory masking  as I went.  Colored and enhanced the flowers with Prismacolor pencils.  With the flowers all masked, stamped the wood slice then added the leaves.   Stamped the sentiment directly on top of the images with Memento Espresso Truffle.  Layered onto some soft brown cardstock and onto a kraft base.

Come share your Thanks creations with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Big Joy

Big sentiments seems to be the current trend and CAS on Friday has a challenge using a Big Sentiment or Word.

CAS on Sunday

Using a Concord & 9th set, stamped the JOY with Memento Bamboo Leaves onto some kraft then stamped the line JOY with Distress Oxide ink in Candied Apple.  I love how the Distress Oxide inks really stand out on a darker background.  Added the snowflakes using Distress Oxide Antique Linen.  Very quick and simple!

Thanks for stopping by!

Trick or Treat

Still working on Halloween cards for my grandsons and used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

And this also fits the theme at The Male Room

This stamp was gifted to me, so I don't know who it's by.  Colored with Touch Twin markers and various gel and shimmer pens.  Sponged some Black Soot Distress Ink around the edge.  Stamped the sentiment with Versamark on black cardstock and heat embossed with white ep and die cut with a banner die..  Die cut the little ghost from white shimmer cardstock and attached to the end of the sentiment banner.  Mounted onto some orange and then onto a purple card base.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Just Us Girls #511 - Photo Week

Bobby is our hostess at Just Us Girls this week with our Photo Challenge and she has chosen a gorgeous, fall photo for our inspiration!

Sadly, this is our last week with our October Guest Designer Chris Dring!  Chris, it has been awesome having you join again this past month.  Pop on over to JUGS to see what Chris and the rest of the talented Design Team have created with this photo as inspiration.

Lots of masking going on here!  First the pumpkins were stamped and masked, then the fence and masked that as well, then finally stamped the flowers.  All of those images are from Gina K.  Colored all of the images with Touch Twin markers, then masked everything again and sponged on the background colors with Distress inks.  Stamped the sentiment from Concord & 9th in black right on top of everything!

Come share your creations that are inspired by the photo and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Cascading Leaves

Fall is such a beautiful time of year with the pretty colored leaves falling and that is what inspired this card.

I started by sponging some Deco Foil Transfer Gel onto the cascading leaves and onto the larger maple leaf, then running it through my laminator with some foil that was various shades of copper, gold and some silver.   Watercolored the larger maple leaf with Inktense watercolor pencils.  Used some Distress Inks to watercolor around the foiled cascading leaves, but it didn't show up very well against the kraft background and the leaves were totally lost.  Pulled out some Distress inks in browns and sponged on the color until the leaves popped.  This card includes:  foiling, stamping, sponging and watercoloring.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #510 - Color Week

It' my turn to choose the challenge this week at Just Us Girls for our Color Challenge.  I went with Purple, Navy and Green!

We have Chris Dring with us again this week as our October Guest Designer!  Check out JUGS to see what Chris and the rest of the fabulous Design Team have created using this color combo.

I made 2 extremely different cards using these colors.  The first one I used a piece of patterned paper that was purple and navy with some green sparkly dots.  I darkened the edges by sponging some Distress ink in Faded Jeans.  Die cut the circles and stamped the little mummies.  Layered onto a green card base.  The eyes look yellow in the photo, but they are colored with a Pale Green Touch Twin marker.

The second card is very simple using Altenew's Painted Flowers stamping only one in the purple with green leaves and stamping the sentiment in Memento Nautical Blue.  Matted with some navy (which looks black in the photo) and onto a light purple card base.

I'm also entering this into The Male Room challenge - Halloween

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

A new month also means as new Guest Designer!  A huge welcome back to Chris Dring!  Come check out JUGS to see what Chris and the rest of the fabulous Design Team have created using Designer Paper.

I went digging through my stash and found this kraft, red and green paper.  Die cut an oval and adhered to a kraft base.  Stamped the little deer from Clearly Besotted and colored him with Prismacolor pencils and added some black gel pen to his hooves and antlers and a drop of Gina K Crystalline Drops to his nose.  Die cut some green cardstock to fit inside the oval framing the deer.  Stamped the sentiment in red and die cut with a Tim Holtz die.  Ran a red gel pen around the edge of the designer paper to add a thin frame.

Now it's your turn to come play along with us.  You could be chosen as our Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running at a chance to become our next Guest Designer.  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #506 - Color Week

It's the third Saturday of the month, which means it's time for our Color Week Challenge at Just Us Girls and Lisa has chosen a beautiful combination for us to play with this week.

Come on over to JUGS to see how Janet Ribet, our Guest Designer and the rest of the amazing Design Team have used these colors as inspiration.

I had just received my new A Year of Flowers dies from Gina K and couldn't wait to use them, hence the mint colored poinsettia!  I didn't have any mint, but the Tim Holtz Cracked Pistachio seemed to work.  The poinsettia  is stamped onto watercolor paper then used a waterbrush and the Distress ink to color it.  Added some Nuvo Drops to the center in Dove Gray.  Sponged the Cracked Pistachio onto some white cardstock leaving the center white.  The frame is from Memory Box and die cut from some gray Core'dinations.  Sanded the raised areas, but didn't make it light enough, so used a chalk pen to add the highlights.  Stamped the sentiment from Gina K in Slate Gray.

What are you going to create using thiese colors?  Come share you creations with us at JUGS and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer.  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #505 - Trend Week

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls and Angie has chosen a very popular current trend - Stacking Die Cuts!

Come check out JUGS to see how our Guest Designer, Janet Ribet and the rest of the amazing Design Team have used Stacking Die Cuts.

I recently received these gen dies free in an order from Concord & 9th and this challenge was the perfect time to use theme.  Since it's a Gem I had to go sparkly.  Die cut the gem pieces from glitter cardstock.  Stamped the Turnabout from Concord & 9th in pinks and grays then used Sakura Stardust pens in silver and pink to go over some of the dots for more sparkle.  Matted onto a pink glitter circle and onto a black glitter layer.  Adhered the light pink glitter piece to a white card base.  Used a silver metallic gel pen to fill in the letters on the sentiment.  A little over the top glittery.

Come play along in our Trend Challenge and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #503 - Wild Card Week

This month we have 5 Saturdays, which means it's time for our Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls!  It's my turn to choose the challenge and I am challenging you to splash something on your creation!  You can splash anything liquid such as ink, paint, water, coffee, tea, etc. or stamp a splash image.

I would like to thank Tristan Dawes for joining us this past month with all of her fabulous designs!  Come check out JUGS to see how Tristan and the rest of the Design Team have interpreted this challenge.

The first card has Distress Oxide ink in Twisted Citron plashed onto it over the Broken China.  Stamped the script layer in gray then Stamped the leaves and sentiment from Gina K.
The second card was an ongoing process!  Started out by sponging various inks on the background, then splashed coffee on top of the inks.  After it dried it still needed something, so splashed more coffee and continued this process until I had enough.  After it was completely dried, I used the Concord & 9th Lace Leaf set and dies, stamped the  background of the leaf image in Versamark then added gold ep.  Stamped the leaf on vellum and heat embossed with copper ep.  Stamped the sentiment from the same set in Memento Espresso Truffle.

What are you going to splash on your creation?  Come share it with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.
