Twisted Kisses

Over at JUGS this week the challenge is a technique called "Kissing with Twist".  Here is the link:
http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2011/05/kissingjust-us-girls-style.html

I wasn't too sure about this technique, but this card was so quick and easy and I really like the way the effect turned out on the damask.  I started with some textured ivory cardstock that I found laying around inked up the damask from Gina K's set Grand Damask with Memento Cantelope, then inked up one of the flourish stamps from the same set with Lady Bug and stamped it onto the damask and twisted a little.  I huffed on the stamp in case the ink had dried a little and stamped onto the textured ivory cs.  Cut out and layered with Nesties circles.  This is the first time I used that border die and I really like it a lot.  Finshed it off by stamping the sentiment across the lower part of the damask in VersaFine Black ink.

Stamps:  Gina K Grand Damask, Inside and Out
Ink:  Memento Cantelope, Lady Bug, VersaFine Black
cs:  Unknown textured ivory, black, Gina K base weight Ivory, dp
accessories:  various Nesties

Beachy Thank You

This was inspired by the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger for this week, Skirting the Issue  http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/05/tuesday-trigger-skirting-issue.html

This is the inspiration photo

When I saw the Trigger, I knew I had to use this dp, the colors were perfect and the dots are in stripes.
I had received the moose image through Wish RAK at SCS quite a while ago and decided it was time to use her.  Here antlers, face and body were colored with Prismacolor Pencils and oms, the flower and bikini with Prismacolor markers.  Added a dot of Stickles in Fruit Punch to the center of the flower and Sakura black glaze pen to eyes and hooves.  She was originally stamped on white cs so I tried to sponge some light tan ink around her and she looked terrible!  So, I cut her out and layered her onto a circle of Ivory cs.

Stamps:  Riley Moose, Gina K Spring Mix and Gifts from the Sea
ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Vivid Tuscan Tan and Taupe
cs:  Gina K Ivory and Ocean Mist, SU Close to Cocoa
accessories:  ribbon, CB ribbon slider, MS scalloped circle punch, 7/8" circle punch, Nesties, Stickles, Sakura black glaze pen

Chevrons - Sort Of

This is for the Chevron Chic Challenge over at Moxie Fab World  http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/05/chevron-chic-challenge.html

This also fits the Creative Belli Challenge #117     http://bellichallenge.blogspot.com/2011/05/belli-challenge-117-letter-s.html   using the letter "S".  I used stripes/stitches.

And sneaking it in for the JUGS challenge found here:  http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2011/05/just-us-girls-85-color-challenge.html

The closest I had to a chevron type stamp is the zig-zag stitch from the set "In Stitches" from Gina K Designs, illustrated by Tami Mayberry.

I stamped the zig-zag stitches stamp in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet - the colors of the rainbow (all inks by Memento).  Stamped the sheep and sentiment from Gina K's Funny Farm in Memento Tuxedo Black.  Colored the sheep with Prismacolor markers and cut out.  Punched the tail of the sentiment layer with a square punch and layered on navy cs.  Added the leaves to hide a little smudge and anchored them with a long forgotten brad found deep in my stash.  Layered on the navy cardstock then onto a yellow card base.

Stamps:  Gina K  In Stitches, Funny Farm
ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Lady Bug, Tangelo, Dandelion, Cottage Ivy, Danube Blue, Paris Dusk and Grape Jelly
cs:  Gina K Pure Luxury White, In the Navy, Rocket Red and Dandelion

Emboss Resist

Just Us Girls has a wild card challenge this week to use the emboss resist technique   http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2011/04/jugs-82-wild-card.html

First I stamped the burlap type stamp from Gina K's Timeless Treasures with Antique Linen, then stamped the flower from Gina K's Lean on Me in Versamark and embossed with clear ep.  Next I used Vintage Photo ink and sponged it over the entire piece, then wiping with a soft cloth to remove the ink from the embossed flower.  I layered it onto a piece of Ivory cardstock by Gina K.  Cut a larger piece to mat the layered flower onto and Versamarked the edges and embossed with Distress ep in Vintage Photo.  Inked up the CB folder with Antique Linen and embossed a piece of Ivory cs, I believe this is called the letterpress technique.  Layered it all onto an Ivory card base, Gina K 120 lb - great stuff!  Stamped the sentiment from Gina K's Labeled With Love in Walnut Stain.
Inks used - Distress inks by Tim Holtz

Faux Silk

One of the current challenges at Moxie Fab World is "The Tissue Paper Magic Challenge"   http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/04/next-moxie-fab-world-challenge-tissue_21.html

I chose to do a Faux Silk card.

You can find the tutorial at Splitcoaststampers here:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/faux_silk/

First I made the faux silk panel as per the directions of the link above.  Sponged lightly with Antique Linen ink.  Then stamped the script bg in Tea Dye and stamped the flower in Walnut Stain.  Sponged the edges with Tea Dye and Vintage Photo.  Layered this onto Gina K PL Chocolate Brown.   Cut the label with a new Nesties die, sponging some of the Tea Dye ink in the opening while still in the dye.  Layered these onto some Bazzill brown textured cs and attached the sentiment label with brads.  Finally adhered the card front to a Gina K PL Ivory card base.
All inks used are Tim Holtz Distress Inks.
Stamps used:  Gina K Many Wishes, Botanicals and Fanciful Tags
