Happy New Year!

A quick card for the Happy New Year Challenge at Cas-ual Fridays

And for CAS on Sunday:  Challenge #24

Used a Swiss Dot ef for the background, stamped the sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Shenanigans and heat embossed with gold ep.   Added the gold dots on the side with the depressed dots with a gel pen.  Found the shiny gold numbers in my stash and mounted onto a piece of silver glitter cardstock.  Happy New Year!

Stampendous December Challenge

The December challenge at Stampendous is to create a CAS Christmas card.  I needed some last minute cards so this challenge was perfect.

I stamped the snowflake from Stampendous Jumbo Snowflake Trio with Memento Luxe Nautical Blue and heat embossed with Stampendous Crystal embossing powder.  Added the sentiment with Memento Nautical Blue dye ink.  Very quick and easy.

Just Us Girls Color Challenge #220

It's a color challenge this week, brought to us by the talented Sue T. at Just Us Girls!  Beautiful choice for the colors, Sue T.

Don't forget to check out our December Guest Designer Jan Del Bone!  She has an amazing creative style.

I used my beloved Tim Holtz deer die cut again.  Stamped the sheet music on kraft and die cut the deer.  Sponged with Distress Inks and topped it off with some TH Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  Added Christmas Red Stickles to the berries on the flourishes.  Colored the poinsettia, by Gina K with Twinkling H2Os and cut them out and layered.  It needed a little something, so I added the bow on the deer.

This was the original one I made for this challenge.  Added WPlus9 white ink (my favorite white) on the dry embossed snowflakes.  Die cut the larger snowflakes from brown and kraft cs, adding some Rock Candy Crackle Paint to the brown one.  Circle sentiment is from Gina K.  I wanted the small snow dots to stand out more, so colored with Sakura Stardust red gel pen.

Just Us Girls Technique Challenge #219

It's my turn to host the challenge at Just Us Girls this week.   For this week's challenge, I chose Faux Silk.  Splitcoaststampers has a great tutorial for this technique.  I love the soft look this gives to your background.

We would like to give a warm welcome back again this week our December Guest Designer  Jan Del Bone!

First I crinkled up some tan tissue paper twice.  Then followed the directions to adhere to some ivory cardstock. Lightly sponged the creases for more dimension and then stamped my images and sentiment.

I had to do one more.  I really like this look for a sympathy card.

Snowflakes!

There are 2 challenges this week to use snowflakes:
Addicted to CAS

and CASology

Embossed a piece of Core'dinations cardstock with a snowflake folder and lightly sanded to reveal the lighter core.  Added the Tim Holtz snowflake and 25 die cuts from some Core'dinations Glitter Silk.  Added a strip of washi tape and mounted onto a piece of gray cardstock die cut with a Spellbinders die.  Stamped the Kitchen Sink Stamps flourishes with WPlus9 white ink and the sentiment from Gina K with Vivid Teal ink.

12 Tags of Christmas Day 12

The last tag is up at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom and it is by none other than Ellen Hutson herself!

Ellen Tag 12

Ellen uses some amazing products and techniques on her tag which I sadly do not have those products to achieve her look, so improvising once again!

Not very happy with the results on this one :(.  Painted the tag with Distress Paint and misted to try to get a more gradient look then added some Distress Stain to try to get a more turquoise color like Ellen's - fail!  Stippled on some Tarnished Brass Distress Stain and dribbled on some Pearl Glimmer Mist.  Die cut the ornament from the tag and stamped the pine boughs with Memento Rose Bud.  Had to use vellum behind the die cut and stamped the scalloped borders in white and heat embossed then added Distress Stains trying for the faded out look.  Added a strip of ScorTape and rose colored glitter, then adhered to back of ornament opening.  The pine branch was found in my Christmas stash.  It was silver so used WPlus9 white ink, heat set, inked the raised areas with Memento Rose Bud then lightly added some Stickles in gold.

Thanks for taking a look!

12 Tags of Christmas Day 11

The 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist is almost over at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom!  Today's tag is created by Heather Campbell!

Heather Campbell tag

I got a little carried away with the poinsettias!  They aren't really poinsettias, I used an old set by SU, watercolor minis, this is as close as I could get.  I also stuck with the Tim Holtz tag die.  Stamped the background with SU Canvas background on the diagonal with Antique Linen Distress Ink.  Stamped the flowers with Worn Lipstick Distress ink and the leaves with Memento Pistashio and Northern Pine.  Added some depth to the flowers with a Tuscan Red Prismacolor marker and used a Prismacolor Gold marker for the centers.  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Northern Pine.  Tied some twine to the top.

12 Tags of Christmas Day 10

It's day 10 at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist!  The talented artist with today's tag is Jill Foster with a very cool background technique.

Jill Foster Tag

My version

The deer image is a couple of years old by Inkadinkado, stamped on some Tim Holtz watercolor paper for some texture.  I love the look of the gelatos, but I don't have any so I used Distress Stains for my background.  Misted the tag and applied the stains then misted again to let the colors blend.  Stamped the Joy in Versamark then Memento Grape Jelly, stamped and heat embossed with clear ep.  Snowflakes are a Martha Stewart punch and added some purple rhinestones.  Dyed the seam binding ribbon with some reinker, crinkling it up and letting it dry.

Thanks for visiting!

12 Tags of Christmas Day 9

The beautiful parade of tags continues at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom!  Today the talented Teri Anderson is featured.

Eh_NoelTag_teri

I am very limited on shape dies, so I did a search for a clip art skate and found this one.  Cut it out by hand, sponged on some Antique Linen Distress ink, colored the blade with a silver Sharpee marker and pink gel pen on the laces.  I had some snowflake printed vellum on hand.  I did the frame of the tag with Barn Door Distress ink and spritzed with water. I don't sew, so pierced around the opening and drew the stitches with white gel pen.  Die cut individual letters from dp and added the punched vellum snowflake and bling.  This pales in comparision to Teri's lovely tag, but I did what I could with my resources.

12 Days of Christmas Day 8

On the 8th day of Christmas Ellen Hutson's The Classroom brings to us Sharon Harnist!

12-CmasTag1A-SH

Yes, my little deer has returned once again, this time flipped over and glittered!  Followed her directions to make the background, it's really a pretty effect.  Found some chipboard jingle bells and smeared them with Picket Fence Distress Stain.  Added some Rock Candy Distress Stickles to the greenery.  I just realized that I forgot to add the lace at the bottom, oops!

The 12 Tags of Christmas Day 7

The 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom is over halfway done.  Today's artist is Paula Cheney!

Final version 2

Die cut the tag from Gina K Soft Sand cardstock.  Stamped some flourishes randomly with Memento Bamboo Leaves, sponged the edges with Antique Linen Distress ink and then spritzed with gold Glimmer Mist.  The presents are from various stamp companies all colored with Prismacolor markers, cut out and stacked except for the bottom one.  I needed a larger package for the bottom of the pile so I hand cut it and then scored it with my ScorBuddy.  Added some touches of Sakura Stardust gel pens to the bows for some subtle sparkle.  The sentiment is by Studio G and stamped with Memento Northern Pine.  Tied some Bo Bunny red polka ribbon to complete it.

12 Tags of Christmas Day 6

Day 6 at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom is featuring the super talented Julia Stainton!  She creates some of the most beautiful things.  Here is her gorgeous tag for inspiration

Shabby-santa-tag

Here is my use what is at hand version

I didn't have any vintage Santas so went on a search and found this one from some tags from Nina Brackett that I saw the link on FaceBook.  Die cut the frame from some Grundge Board and first  embossed it with some vintage gold ep, but didn't like the look so I added some Distress Stickles in Antique Linen.  Still didn't care for it so dumped on some gold glitter and decided to stop there.  I didn't have any pretty roses, but still have a bunch of these Prima flowers.  Punched out some branches.  I remembered that I had some little charms and found the pearl in them.

Thanks for taking the time to visit!

Just Us Girls Sketch Challenge #218

Maria has come up with a great sketch for us to try at Just Us Girls!
We would like to give a warm welcome to our December Guest Designer  Jan Del Bone!

I varied from the sketch just slightly.  Used some digi dp from Mel Stampz, she has lots of free papers.  Used some washi tape on the bottom.  The snowman and sentiment are from Gina K and the large snowflake is from Stampendous.  The fur on the snowman's hat is chunky embossing powder glued on and not heat embossed.

Just a reminder that Just Us Girls is starting up the Guest Designer position once again!!  Winning  Chic of the Week puts you in the running for the GD spot.  At the end of the month, after we have all of our Chic's of the weeks for that month, the JUGS girls will decide who the Guest Designer will be for the following month!

12 Tags of Christmas Day 5

If you haven't checked out The 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom you should definitely check them out.  Some really beautiful creations over there!
Today's tag is by Kelly Alvarez!

Die cut a tag from some diagonal striped cardstock, added ScorTape to the edges and added glitter.  Cut a rectangle of light blue dp, stamped the trees by Studio G and colored them with colored pencils and gel pens.  The balls on the trees are Souffle pen dots.  Freehand cut some "hills"  from some Glitter Silk by Core'dinations and lightly sponged on some light blue ink to define the hills better.  Made the little snowlady from 2 punched circles, also Glittersilk and half a circle for her hat and added a little punched circle for a pompom.  The eyes, mouth and carrot nose were colored with glaze gel pens. Tied some pink baker's twine for a scarf.  Glued a small Glitter Silk star over the circle and punched a little hole. Tied on some plain old twine to finish off.

Thanks for taking a look!

12 Tags of Christmas Day 4

The fun and amazing inspiration continues over at Ellen Hutson's - The Classroom.  Day 4 brings us the amazing and talented Kittie Caracciolo!   She makes the most gorgeous scenes.

Tag front

My tag is a dumbed down version, but tried to stick with the theme and feel of Kittie's tag.

Yes, that deer is back again!  I don't have very many dies like these, so I just use what I have on hand.  Stamped and embossed the trees from Gina K with white ep and used a white souffle gel pen for the falling snow.  I did have a wavy crimper which I used on some shimmery white cardstock and cut 2 layers freehand into small rolling hills.  The little branch/bushes are a Martha Stewart punch.  Added some Distress Stickles in Rock Candy on the punched bushes and the edges of the hills.  The Tim Holtz deer was die cut from some darker blue cardstock and sponged around the edges with Distress ink in Faded Jeans.  Topped it off with a white satin ribbon.

12 Tags of Christmas Day 3

Another beautiful tag over at The Classroom, this one by Ronda Palazzari!

Ronda Palazzari Joyeux Noel Tag

I tried to stay with her design with what I had to work with.  It's really hard to see the music score background, I must have gone a little too heavy with the paints and stains.  I first tried to use Distress Stains since I had the colors that Ronda used, but that didn't work out very well,  Then I used the Distress Paints over my mess in 3 different colors and when dry, stamped the music over the paint.  Everything looked a little too bold, so out came the Picket Fence Distress Stain to tone it all down.  Stamped some gold snowflakes and a copper flourish.  I converted a fern die into a tree cut from patterned paper and sponged with Distress ink in Bungled Sage.  Stamped a script stamp on ivory cardstock and die cut the deer, then sponged with Distress inks in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.  Stamped the sentiment and heat embossed with silver ep.  Tied on a gold ribbon to finish it off.

Thanks for visiting.

12 Tags of Christmas Day 2

The fun continues over at The Classroom with a tag from Julie Ebersole

City_tag_xma_2013_WEB

I didn't have any cityscape dies so I went with wood veneer trees.

I used Ivory instead of white cardstock.  Covered the trees with Tim Holtz Distress Stickles in Vintage Photo. Added two strips of ScorTape and sprinkled on the glitter.  Stamped the little snowflakes with Colorbox Bronze ink.  Stamped the sentiment onto vellum with Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa ink and finished it off by tying some cream floss.

Thanks for visiting!

12 Tags of Christmas Day 1

Over at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom they have started the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist.  I just love the inspiration they provide.
Day 1 is Jennifer McGuire's very creative tag:

Final-1
And this is what I came up with:

I don't have any embossing paste and no small wreath stamp, so I stamped the holly leaves and berries on Gina K Heavy Weight White cs, colored with Touch Twin markers and cut them out to give them the depth. I added washi tape instead of cardstock layers and the stitching is also washi tape trimmed down.

Thanks for taking a look!
