Groovy Birthday

I paper pieced a little van for my dh's birthday and it just happens to fit the challenge of paper piecing at  Creative Belli  http://bellichallenge.blogspot.com/2011/09/belli-challenge-127-paper-piecing.html

I pulled out some of my beloved Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock.  Stamp set by Gina K, illustrated by Tami Mayberry - So Groovy.

Next, over at Touch Twin Markers  http://touchtwinchallenges.blogspot.com/2011/09/ttc02-touch-twin-color-challenge-part-2.html  they are having a color challenge.  Since I don't have any of those markers in my possession yet, I tried to come close with the markers I have.

I used a couple of Gina K sets by Theresa Momber - Aloha and Vogue Vases.

Tuesday Trigger

The inspiration piece at Moxie Fab World is fantastic and filled with tons of inspiration.

I tried to incorporate all of the colors and most of the elements of the Trigger.  The stamp set is by Gina K - Sung from the Heart.  I had the woodgrain dp in my stash and inked it with a couple different green inks to try to get the right shade.  Stamped the envelope and paper pieced it with the tiny gingham check, colored with Prismacolor markers and covered the hearts with Sakura Clear Glaze pen.  The scalloped border is an EK Success border punch.  Ribbon from Target Dollar Spot, button from SU, twine by Jillibean Soup.

The layout was CASEd from Deb Felts on Stamp TV  http://stamptv.ning.com/photo/summer-picnic?context=user.

Colored Pencil Magic

I used the sketch from Card Patterns this week  http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2011/09/sketch-133.html

And the challenge from Creative Belli Blog  http://bellichallenge.blogspot.com/2011/09/belli-challenge-126-string.html  to use string.

This also fits the challenge at Stamp TV to do Colored Pencil Magic  http://stamptv.ning.com/forum/topics/mix-it-up-monday-challenge-colored-pencil-magic

I flipped the sketch.  The sections on the background were separated by stitching, the first time I have attempted to actually sew on a card.  I used the stamp set Lean on Me by Gina K.  The flowers were stamped with Studio G white chalk ink then colored with Prismacolor pencils.  Cut the image out with a Nesties oval and layered onto a scalloped oval.

Stamps:  Gina K Lean on Me
ink:  Studio G white chalk ink, Memento Tangelo
cs:  Gina K Pure Luxury Grass Green and Sweet Mango, black, SU dp
accessories:  bling, black floss, Prismacolor pencils, sponge, Nesties

Sketch at Lily Pad

Lily Pad Cards  http://www.lilypad.inlinkz.com/2011/09/16/hero-arts-presents-a-sketch-challenge/  has a really cute sketch challenge.

This was a quick and easy wedding card, but very hard to get a good photo of.  I used all Gina K stamps:  Happy Hearts, Ribbon Stripes and Inside and Out.  The cream colored ink is an old ink spot called Shadow Ink in Vanilla and Memento Desert Sand.  Used a scalloped heart punch on the larger heart and hand cut the smaller one.  Used dimentional squares to pop up the hearts.

More Challenges

I managed to finish a couple of challenges before I leave on little vacation with my sisters.

First, the Moxie Fab Challenge:  Card Play  http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/09/next-challenge-in-moxie-fab-world-card.html
And it also fits the Crazy Challenge #83 Spots & Stripes
http://crazychallenge.blogspot.com/2011/09/challenge-83-spots-and-stripes.html

I know I already sent my son and his fiance an engagement card, but I made this with them in mind and will send it anyway.  I stamped the unknown sentiment Love on a strip of acetate with Memento Paris Dusk.  The triangular pieces used to attach the acetate were stamped on white with SU Night of Navy and the holes colored with Sakura Stardust red gel pen.  The striped piece as well as the triangular pieces are from Stampendous called Belts and Buckles.  The red polka dot dp is a freebie digi.  The playing cards are from a real deck of cards.

Next I needed to make a couple of little boy birthday cards, one for my grandson and one for my great nephew who were born on the same day.  I incorporated the Crazy Challenge #83 Spots & Stripes  http://crazychallenge.blogspot.com/2011/09/challenge-83-spots-and-stripes.html into this one:

What little boy doesn't like helicopters?  This is from the Gina K Set Oh Boy! by Tami Mayberry.  The helicopter and sun were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Prismacolor markers then cut out.  I added Stickles in yellow on the sun for sparkle and sprayed the helicopter with Triple Thick clear spray.   Stamped the Sentiment with SU Night of Navy.  Used a strip of polka dot ribbon by Bo Bunny.  Layered on Blue Raspberry cs by Gina K, then added the buttons tied with floss.  I bought the dp at a LSS over a year ago.

Vertical Sketch

When I saw the Vertical Sketch Challenge at Moxie Fab World  http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/08/vertical-sketch-challenge-in-card-ideas.html
I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

I used the stamp set Boo! by Gina K.  I picked up the fun dp from our LSS when they were going out of business :(  The sentiment and boo banner were stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with silver ep.  Stamped the bats with VersaFine black, the fence is part of the dp.  The card base is Gina K Pure Luxury Sweet Mango.  Very quick and simple!

New Engagement

We are so happy, our son is engaged to a beautiful young woman that we love with all of our hearts!  I needed a card for them and the sketch from Card Patterns seem to be just the thing.

http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2011/09/sketch-131.html

I used Happy Hearts and Many Wishes by Gina K and an unknown, unmounted background stamp.  Stamped the hearts and the sentiment with VersaMark and heat embossed with silver ep.  Cardstock used:  Gina K Pure Luxury Mother of Pearl, Turquoise Sea and Bazzill textured silver.  My Big Shot's handle broke off, so I had to dig deep to find my Coluzzle templates, knife and foam cutting mat.  Also had to dig out the flourish punch for the swirly pieces.  Popped the hearts up on dimentionals and used an open scalloped border punch.  Added the strip of pearls to finish it off.
