Crafty Friends Challenge #2

The challenge this week at Crafty Friends Challenges is to use 2 die cuts  http://craftyfriendschallenges.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/?p=92

I used a circle and a Labels die both by Spellbinders.  Stamp by Gina K Designs - Spring Mix.  Stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Touch Twin Markers then sponged the edges of the circle and the Labels die cut with Memento Summer Sky and Danube Blue.  Added the white dots around the edge of the Labels die cut with white gel pen..  Ran some Core'dinations White Wash cardstock through the Big Shot with a Cuttlebug folder and lightly sanded the raised embossing.  Added a piece of white lace and navy ribbon.

I used the Gina K set by Tami Mayberry - Live Life Loud.  Stamped the sentiment, border and drum set in Memories black ink.  Used Spellbinders Inverted Scalloped Circles and regular circles and Sizzix Gears dies.  I covered the gear and the brad with Distress Crackle Paint in Tarnished Brass giving them a finely cracked finish..  Cardstock used:  kraft, black and SU Bordering Blue.

Crafty Friends Challenge #1

I just happened upon this blog Crafty Friends Challenges http://craftyfriendschallenges.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/?p=16
and their first challenge is Vintage, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I just read about this technique in Tim Holtz's new book A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II.
He calls it Enameled Metals.  It reminds me of old fashioned tin ceilings.  After embossing the foil, I painted it with a green paint dauber then lightly sanded it when it was dry.  Very cool effect!  The image is from Gina K's Vintage Chic.  The black border is a Spellbinders die as well as the ovals.  Added some lace, because what is vintage without it?

Thinking of You x2

Some great sketches out there this week.  First is Card Patterns Sketch #160  http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2012/04/sketch-160.html

Thinking of You in black and ivory.  The image and sentiment are from Gina K.  Stamped the flower in black on ivory cardstock and cut out with a Nesties Petite Oval, stamped Timeless Textures by Gina K in Distress Ink Antique Linen and sponged the edges lightly.  Cut a Nesties Label out of tan cs and sponged black ink on it before I removed it from the die.  Used Core'dinations cs for the long strip, embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and lightly sanded.  Still practicing with Liquid Pearls, so I did them on a black strip in case of any mistakes.  Added the flourish by Spellbinders.

Next is Sketch #131 at JUGS  http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/04/jugs-131-sketch-challenge.html

Quick and easy card.  Embossed some Ocean Mist cardstock and lightly sponged with Colorbox Chalk Olive ink.  Embossed the gray strip and lightly sponged with Versacolor ink in a light blue.  Layered these onto some Fresh Asparagus cardstock and onto a light gray base.  Stamped the sentiment in olive ink and sponged the edge lightly with blue ink and layered onto a Sizzix circle tag.  Tinted the seam binding with Glimmer Mist and tied onto the tag.  Layered a bunch of Prima Flowers that I hardly ever use and added a pearl to the center.

TTC14

Another card for Touch Twin Challenge 14  http://touchtwinchallenges.blogspot.com/2012/03/ttc14-touch-twin-marker-color-challenge.html

Stamped the tulips from Gina K's A Year of Flowers with Memento Tuxedo Black then colored with Touch Twin Markers.  Used a Versamark pen and covered the flowers then heat embossed with clear ep.  Sponged around the tulips in 3 shades of Memento blues.   Cut some white cardstock with Spellbinders lace die and the little tag with a Sizzix die.  Attached the tiny tag with an orange eyelet.  DP by Bo Bunny.
