Just Us Girls #503 - Wild Card Week

This month we have 5 Saturdays, which means it's time for our Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls!  It's my turn to choose the challenge and I am challenging you to splash something on your creation!  You can splash anything liquid such as ink, paint, water, coffee, tea, etc. or stamp a splash image.

I would like to thank Tristan Dawes for joining us this past month with all of her fabulous designs!  Come check out JUGS to see how Tristan and the rest of the Design Team have interpreted this challenge.

The first card has Distress Oxide ink in Twisted Citron plashed onto it over the Broken China.  Stamped the script layer in gray then Stamped the leaves and sentiment from Gina K.
The second card was an ongoing process!  Started out by sponging various inks on the background, then splashed coffee on top of the inks.  After it dried it still needed something, so splashed more coffee and continued this process until I had enough.  After it was completely dried, I used the Concord & 9th Lace Leaf set and dies, stamped the  background of the leaf image in Versamark then added gold ep.  Stamped the leaf on vellum and heat embossed with copper ep.  Stamped the sentiment from the same set in Memento Espresso Truffle.

What are you going to splash on your creation?  Come share it with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #502 - Photo Week

It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Bobby has chosen a beautiful photo filled with inspiration.

Once again, we have Tristan Dawes with us as our August Guest Designer.  Check out the JUGS blog to see how Tristan and the rest of the amazing Design Team were inspired by this Photo.

I was inspired by the tinted Mason jar with the flowers.  I used Gina K's Buds and Vases and watercolored on a Bristol card base.  Stamped the flowers, masked them and then stamped the stems.  Masked the stems and stamped the jar, removed the stems mask and inked just the front rim of the jar and stamped again so that the stems appeared to be inside of the jar.  Used Distress ink to paint the jar and Inktense pencils and a water brush to paint the flowers.  After it dried it was pretty warped, so spritzed the back side of the front of the card lightly with water and placed under a heavy book to dry.  Stamped the sentiment, also from Gina K in black.

Now it's your turn to share your creation that was inspired by our Photo.  You could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Also, joining in on the Addicted to CAS challenge - Code Word One Layer.

Just Us Girls #501 - Color Week

It's time for our Color Week challenge at Just Us Girls and Ina has chosen a fabulous color combo for us to play with.

Check out the JUGS blog to see what our August Guest Designer, Tristan Dawes and the rest of the Design Team have created using this color combo.

Pretty quick and simple.  Used a Turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th in pink and gray for the background and Happy Birthday balloons and dies from Avery Elle stamped in red and pink and sponging a little more ink around the edges to give them a little more depth.  Added a couple of gray die cut bows.  Layered onto a Gina K London Fog card base.

Come join us for this week's challenge and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #500 - Trend Week

It's our 500th challenge at Just Us Girls!!!  Vicki is our hostess and has chosen a fun trend for us, Circles!  Not only a challenge this week, but we have 3 awesome sponsors with prizes up for grabs!

Come on over to JUGS to see what our Guest Designer, Tristan Dawes and the rest of the amazing Design Team have created with Circles.

I needed a graduation card and used blue and yellow since these are the school colors of the recipient's high school.  Started out by using a Concord & 9th Turnabout stamp in blue and yellow, the yellow didn't show up very well, so restamped the yellow dots with Versamark and heat embossed with yellow ep.  Stamped the Studio G sentiment on yellow and heat embossed with blue ep, die cut with a circle die and adhered it in the center.  Die cut a circle from a blue panel and placed the sentiment layer behind that.  It needed a little something more, so die cut the pointed circles 2 times from yellow cardstock and attached to the outer edge of the large circle staggering them.  Placed it all together on a yellow card base.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week AND also for a chance to win one of the awesome prizes we have this week!  If  chosen as our Chic of the Week, that would put you in the running at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Anniversary Heart

I was inspired by the challenge this month at CAS Mix Up Card Challenge to make this anniversary card for my daughter and her husband.

I mopped up some blue and green Distress Inks with a paper towel, laid it over some watercolor paper, misted it and pressed the inks from the paper towel onto the watercolor paper.  Cut the panel and placed a little off center.  Die cut the fancy heart from some self adhesive foil transfer paper and foiled with some turquoise foil in my laminator.   Stamped the sentiment with Memento Teal ink and cut it out and layered over the edge of the heart.  Foil is always hard to get a good photo of.  I used the paper towel technique, stamping and foiling.

Thanks for visiting my blog, I'd love to know what you think!

Just Us Girls #499 - Word Week

It's time for our Word Week Challenge at Just Us Girls and Carol has chosen the perfect, timely word of Summer!

I would like to welcome our August Guest Designer, Tristan Dawes!  Check out the JUGS blog to see  what Tristan and the rest of the Design Team have created with Summer in mind.

I think of golf and swimming when I think of summer.  I went with this bathing beauty Golden Oldie who is ready to hit the beach.  She was colored with Touch Twin markers.  The background die reminds me of waves, so mounted it over some royal blue glitter paper for the water.

Come show us your creations that make you think of Summer and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then put you in the running at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.
