Just Us Girls #573 - Photo Week

It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and I'm the hostess.  I am fascinated by the Northern Lights/ Aurora Borealis and I found this photo of them that I chose as our inspiration this week.

First I would like to thank our Guest Designer, Leslie Turner for joining us this past month with all of her amazing creations!  Now, come on over to JUGS to see how Leslie and the rest of the Design Team were inspired by this photo.

I started out by stamping the images from Gina K's Life is Good and heat embossed with black ep.  Colored the land and water with Touch Twin markers.  Used Distress Oxide inks in various colors direct to paper for the lights and blended black Distress Ink down from the top.

Share with us how this photo inspires you and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Serene Dragonfly

I was inspired by a fun technique of stencil embossing for the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge this month and Cardz 4 Guyz - Thinking of You.

I made the brick stencil by die cutting some clear plastic with a die from Marianne Designs.  Sponged Versamark through my stencil and heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Spice ep on kraft.  Stamped the dragonfly by Sheena - Crafter's Companion with Versamark and heat embossed with black ep on vellum, colored with Touch Twin markers on the back side and fussy cut.  Added the sentiment from Hero Arts.  Matted on some Gina K green cardstock and onto a Gina K purple card base.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Love You!

Another Valentine, this one is for my 96 year old aunt who is an amazing woman.  Adding this into the CAS on Friday Challenge #198 - Love.

This is the modified version of my card.  Layered strips of cardstock onto acetate, then die cut the heart out of the middle and adhered to a white card base.  Stamped the sentiment from Gina K and added a die cut glittery red heart to the center of the panel.  After it was all put together and I took a photo, I noticed that the left side of the acetate layer wasn't square :(, so it was time to perform surgery!  I trimmed it off along the striped panel so it was straight.  Added another piece of white cardstock which I die cut little hearts down the edge and inlaid some red glitter hearts then adhered to a card base.

This is the before version.

I liked the before version, but couldn't stand to see that crooked edge!

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!

Stamped the robot, colored him and cut him out. Die cut the heart.  Stamped the sentiment from Altenew with red ink and cut out.  Stamped the background by Concord & 9th Pinstripes Background in red ink.  Layered the pieces together and done!

Then I decided to give him some googly eyes.

Hugs

Finishing up my Valentine cards and playing along with Color Hues and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Love is in the Air.

.

Cut up strips of scraps in shades of red and pink and adhered them to a piece of acetate.  Die cut the large heart.  Die cut more hearts from some glitter paper scraps and one from pink.  Die cut into the larger heart and inlaid the smaller hearts holding it all together with some painter's tape and added foam tape to the back and adhered to the white base.  Die cut the hugs from some heavy weight white and layered over the hearts.
