Just Us Girls - Photo Week

Nancy has a fun, girly photo to inspire us for our Photo Week Challenge at Just Us Girls.  What little girl wouldn't want that bedroom?

Come play along with us at JUGS this week!  Wait until you see the fun creations the Design Team along with our Guest Designer - Lee Ann Barrett have come up with this week.

This photo inspiration had perfect timing for me, I needed a birthday card for my niece/goddaughter and these colors were perfect for her.  The stamp set is Lots of Lines by Gina K.  Randomly stamped the circles in Memento London Fog and Angel Pink and the smaller solid dots were stamped with Brilliance ink.  Stamped the sentiment directly on the card, but it seemed to get lost in the dots, so stamped again on white cardstock and die cut the banner cutting off the top of the d and the bottom of the y and lined it up over the first one.

If you come and play along in our challenge, you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which gives you a shot at becoming our Guest Designer for the entire month of February!  Can't wait to see how this photo inspires you.  Please limit your entries to 3.

Male Room Christmas

I love the challenges at The Male Room, lots of great inspiration for making masculine cards.  The theme for this challenge is to make a masculine Christmas card.

I received this image through a RAK group a few years ago and thought it would be perfect for this challenge.  I colored the image with chalks for a muted look.  Used Distress Ink direct to paper around the image panel and sponged more Distress Inks on the background pieces.

Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Thank You

Starting some thank you cards and was able to use the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch

This started out as a one layer card, but after stenciling the top part, I didn't like it.  Stenciled the lower panel with the stripes in Marigold Distress Ink.  Stamped the lower flourish border and the upper scroll border with Versafine Onyx.  Layered that onto a larger piece of the same color cardstock.  Stamped the large flourish with Hero Arts Orange Soda ink and stamped the sentiment from Gina K's Lots of Lines in Versafine Onyx.  Since I had to do surgery on the original attempt, I then layered onto some black cs and onto a Mango base.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and I really do appreciate every one of you who visits my blog!

Just Us Girls - Color Week

Ina has some gorgeous colors for us to play with this week at Just Us Girls!

The rest of the Design Team along with our Guest Designer Lee Ann Barrett have some beautiful creations with these colors at JUGS.

I used Distress Inks in the challenge colors and sponged the background.  I just got this plate die and had to use it,  I also used my beloved Tim Holtz die cut deer, cut from a piece of a box that was kraft with stripes.  Sponged more Distress Inks on the deer and added the sentiment.

Come play with us this week at Just Us Girls in our Color Challenge and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week and that would make you eligible to be chosen as our next Guest Designer.

Please limit your entries to only 3.

I can't wait to see what you create with these beautiful colors!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 12

The last day of The Twelve Tags of Christmas at The Classroom with a real beauty by Ellen Hutson herself!

String Art Stag

I just happened to have some red oak veneer on hand from refinishing a crib a few years ago.  Die cut the tag from the veneer and die cut the Tim Holtz deer out of the middle of the tag.  Stamped the dot circle with Delicata Golden Glitz ink on some aqua cardstock and positioned behind the deer.  Stamped the sentiment and stars with Golden Glitz also and added some turquoise Sakura Stardust gel pen dots.  Added the bling to his nose and used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to staple the sentiment layer to the tag.  Tied on some aqua ribbon to finish it off.

I have really enjoyed playing with The Twelve Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist.  Thanks for taking the time to visit!

Just Us Girls Challenge - Trend Week

Maria is challenging us to create something with Mixed Media at Just Us Girls!  Definitely a challenge for me!

Please welcome our December Guest Designer Lee Ann Barrett!

I used spackle, mica chips, glitter, ink and alcohol markers. I think this qualifies as mixed media. Added the stars with a stencil and spackle.  Added the mica chips and glitter for the snow across the bottom (should have added some spackle to make it appear more white)  Stamped, colored and cut out the snowman and popped up.  Then added the unknown sentiment in Colorbox red ink.

Check out what the rest of the JUGS Design Team has done for this mixed media challenge, some amazing creations!  I can't wait to see what you create!

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our December challenges, you will be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of February .  Good luck!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 11

The designers at The Classroom have really had some great tags this year and Day 11 is another beauty by Sharon Harnist!
12-CmasTag-SH

I painted the tag with Gesso then used Distress Paint in Festive Berries, smearing it around and then misting it.  It was pretty red, so I added some Picket Fence Distress Stain to soften the color.  Sanded the raised areas and part of the edges.  Die cut a twig wreath and added red Stickles for the berries.  I used some black corrugated cardboard to die cut the deer and painted on some Gesso, but he looked like a zebra, so I added another glitter paper deer on top of the zebra.  Die cut the "joy" from gold glitter paper and the bottom edge is a Spellbinders die cut.

Thanks for peeking in!

The Twelve Days of Christmas - Day 10

It's day 10 at The Classroom with another amazing tag, this time by Heather Campbell!

Heather Campbell for Ellen Hutson

I love that her's is a shaker card, but I went with just a plain tag.  Inked the background with Hero Arts pink ink, heavier at the top, then sprayed with some pink shimmer spray.  Stamped the cityscape and colored the buildings black and cut it out.  Used a dotted stencil with WPlus9 white ink for the falling snow.  Stamped the sentiment on some shimmer cardstock and die cut with a circle for the moon.  Added some black satin ribbon tied with pink twine.

Thanks for stopping in!

The Twelve Days of Christmas - Day 9

The 9th day of Feminine Tags at The Classroom with Sandy Allnock.

Sandy Allnock Tag A

I cut a couple of the trees from a Taylored Expressions cover plate to fit the tag and lightly sponged some blue ink on them.  Sponged pink and navy inks on the background blending together. Used spackle with glitter mixed in for the snow and moon (wish I would have made my moon a little smaller).  Added the Studio G bear, colored with Touch Twin markers and cut out and popped up.  Stamped the sentiment and die cut it and 2 more little pennant flags from patterned paper.  The stars were added with a Sakura Souffle white pen.  Finished it off with a pink knotted ribbon.

Thanks for visiting!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 8

The fun continues over at The Classroom!  Today's beautiful tag is by Dawn Woleslagle.

Dawn Final 1

I sponged Delicata Golden Glitz in through a stencil for the background and sponged the same ink onto the die cut snowflakes.  Splattered a little Tattered Angels gold mist on the small tag, layered onto a black tag and tied with ecru floss.  The Merry is part of a Tim Holtz die that was cut from some white glitter cardstock.  Finished it off the the white and gold ribbon.

Thanks for looking!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 7

Day 7 has inspiration from Jill Foster at The Classroom

Jill 2

This was a little scary due to my watercolor ability, but with Jill's directions it turned out better than I thought.  This Penny Black image is the only girl Christmas image I could find.  I forgot to leave room for the sentiment across the bottom, so I stamped it on acetate and adhered with vellum adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 6

I love all of the inspiration at The Classroom!  Day 6 and the designer of the day is Jean Manis with this beauty

Day6FeminineTag2014

I stayed with the design and the color scheme.  I didn't add as many sequins and added a Brown Wink of Stella colored buck instead.  I sponged the edges of the tree for a little more depth.  The falling snow was created with a dotted stencil and WPlus9 white ink.  Couldn't find the jingle bells that I know I bought last year, but did run across the dangling pearl.  Added a ribbon and tied it with Tim Holtz tinsel.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 5

Julia Stainton is the designer with today's tag at The Classroom

Joy-sled-tag

Julia's tag is amazing!  I cheated a little on mine and used woodgrain textured cardstock, scored then inked with Distress Ink.  I used a snowflake instead of the wreath and my beloved Tim Holtz deer die cut from glitter cardstock.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Just Us Girls Challenge #270 - Word Week

Since Christmas is just around the corner and it's my turn to hostess this week's challenge at Just Us Girls, I thought we could all "Sparkle" this week!  You can use an image that sparkles or use something sparkly on you card.

I would also like to welcome our Guest Designer for the month of December - Lee Ann Barnett!   Come and check out what Lee Ann and the rest of the Design Team at JUGS have created.

It's hard to see all of the sparkle on this.  The background is embossed Core'dinations cardstock that has been sanded to reveal the lighter core, then sprayed with Sheer Sparkle Spray by Imagine Crafts. Stamped the music label stamp with Versamark then heat embossed with silver tinsel embossing powder and die cut.  Heat embossed the white snowflake on the ornament and sponged the edges, popped up on the striped background.  Sizzix flourish cut in half to stick out both ends of the label. Finished off with a punched snowflake and rhinestone.

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our  December challenges, you will be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of February .  Good luck!  And please limit your entries to 3.

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 4

Day 4 and another tag this time inspired by Kelly Alvarez at The Classroom
Kelly10

I didn't have the patience to cut all of those scallops so I used Gina K's Pretty Patterns to stamp the background in Hero Arts Tide Pool ink.  I used the same distress inks on the pink layer that Kelly used and then stenciled some stars with white ink.  Found this cute little moose in my old Christmas stamps by Studio G, colored him with Touch Twin markers, cut him out then adhered him to the tag.

Thanks for taking a look!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 3

Day 3 at The Classroom has Kittie Caracciolo  with her amazing, intricate style.

full

This is my simplified version.  I didn't have a window die so I used my 9 square die and used 2 for a normal, regular window.  Used various dies and punches for the flower and the greenery.  Added some touches of Wink of Stella to all of the greenery and flower petals.  Added some Viva Decor Pearl Pen in yellow for the flower center, it was little pearls, but melded into one.  I will probably have to try another flower to replace this one.  I tried a couple different red ribbons for the top, but couldn't get them to do what I wanted, ended up using the light green crinkly ribbon and adding some looped gold twine.

Thanks for visiting!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 2

Day 2 at The Classroom has Jennifer McGuire (the enabler) with this cute tag

Ellen

I went with her same design with a twist.  The Tim Holtz deer is die cut from patterned paper and a blue twine bow tied around her neck.  Washi tape covers the ends and added thin strips of glittered cardstock.  Drew the ornament strings with a gold metallic gel pen and added homemade enamel dots for the ornaments.

I love all of the inspiration that The Twelve Tags of Christmas has to offer.

Thanks for dropping by!

The Twelve Tags of Christmas - Day 1

It's time for The Twelve Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist at Ellen Hutson's The Classroom

12

Today's inspiration is by Julie Ebersole
Laurel_tag_WEB_1

Here's my version:

I smeared Distress Inks in Fired Brick and Worn Lipstick onto the watercolor paper tag and sprayed with water to blend the colors.  After that dried I lighted spritzed some Heidi Swapp shimmery pink spray all over.  Stamped the sentiment with Memento Luxe Bahama Blue ink.  Die cut the wreath and cut off 3 of the leaf segments and glued the ends together to make it smaller to fit the tag.  Added some red Wink of Stella to the berries and added some wooden stars covered with gold Wink of Stella.
I love playing along with The Twelve Tags of Christmas because it pushes me to try new things and I also end up with some pretty cool tags to put on Christmas presents.

Thanks for stopping by!
