Just Us Girls $341 - Wild Card Week

April has 5 Saturdays and that means it's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls!  Ina is our hostess and she is challenging us to try a different shape or fold, without making a square or rectangle card.

I would like to thank our awesome April Guest Designer - Angie Cimbala for joining us this past month and sharing all of her amazing designs with us!  Now come on over to the JUGS blog and see the fun shapes and folds that Angie and the rest of the Design Team have created.

I used a template from Mirkwood Designs.  The flower was made with the Tim Holtz Distressed Floral die, sponged on some pink ink, heavier in the center and added some yellow Stickles for the flower center.  I cut the purse shape out of some patterned paper from my stash, added some faux stitching around the edges and some black ribbon for the handle.  I added a magnetic clasp to keep the card closed.  Inside the houndstooth flap I stamped a sentiment and made a tag with a pouch to insert either cash or a gift card.  These are easy and fun to make for those girly girls in your life.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible for a chance to be our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Non-traditional Floral

I used the colors for the challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches

I used an Altenew set for this one layer card.  Stamped the flowers and leaves outlines with brown ink.  Stamped the layers on the flowers with turquoise ink.  Watered down some of the brown ink and painted onto the leaves for a lighter shade.  Used a Distress Marker in Spun Sugar to color in the smaller flowers.  Added a little clear Wink of Stella to the flowers and stamped the sentiment from Gina K with a darker brown ink to make it stand out.

It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls with Bobby, one of our newest Design Team members, bringing us this beautiful photo for our inspiration.

Come see what inspired our Guest Designer - Angie Cimbala and the rest of the JUGS Design Team from this photo.

I was inspired by the jug of lemonade used the pitcher of lemonade from Gina K, the swirlie die is from Reverse Confetti and the sentiment is from Virginia Turtle.  The inside has the rest of the sentiment:  "It's not just a color, it's an attitude".  The pitcher was colored with Touch Twin markers then covered with Glossy Accents.  The blue and green glitter strip is from DCWV and the striped paper is a free digi from Mel Stampz

Triple Stamping

The challenge at The Male Room is Triple Stamping. This technique is a lot of fun and so easy to do with a very cool result.

Stamped the music background multiple times with gray ink using my MISTI to cover the whole background, which is 3 layers of rectangles held together by repositional adhesive.  Next stamped the guitar and music notes in black, again using my MISTI so that each image was inked and stamped 3 times to get a good solid black on the images.  Matted each layer with black.  Added the yellow star and sentiment that was heat embossed and then cut out and layered onto a Core'dinations yellow card base.

Thanks for visiting!

Birthday Wishes

Using the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches

I made this a regular A2 card instead of the square.  Die cut the balloons from some scrap patterned paper and sponged ink around the edges leaving it lighter in the center.  Tied the balloons with scrapbook floss.  Used a diagonal striped die from Reverse Confetti cutting out of both black and green and inlaying the black pieces into the green strips.  Stamped the sentiments from WPlus9 with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  After seeing this posted on here, I noticed that that tied bow on the strings isn't quite the way I wanted it to look.

Just Us Girls #339 - Color Week

One of our newest Design Team members, Judy is our hostess at Just Us Girls for our Color Week and she has provided us with this gorgeous color palette!

Pop on over the the JUGS Blog to see what our Guest Designer - Angie Cimbala and the rest of the JUGS Girls have done with this soft, springy colors.

Spritzed some peach shimmery spray on an ivory piece, then stamped the flowers from Unity - Insightful Meadows with Dusty Concord Distress Ink and lifted some of the color by applying s little water and blotting it off with a paper towel.  Layered it onto a strip of Lovely Lavender cardstock and distressed the edges.  Added the sentiment banner by Gina Marie.  Added the lattice cover plate over peach cardstock by Gina K.  It looked a little bland, so before adhering the lattice I stamped some Kitchen Sink Flourishes onto the peach cardstock so that it peeks through the lattice.

What do these colors inspire you to create?  Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible for a chance to be our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

35_Apr2016

Inlaid Dies, Flowers and Colors

I have a few different cards for a few different challenges.

Addicted to CAS - Inlaid Dies

Die cutting the balloons and die cutting the striped layer to have these line up was a little more difficult than I thought it would be.  It took a few tries, but finally got it finished.

CAS on Sunday - Flowers

CAS on Sunday

The flower and leaves is from Altenew and the sentiment is Gina K.  The base stamps were first stamped with white ink and then the colors to keep the colors more true.

Still trying to watercolor, maybe some day I'll get it!  Stamped the flowers from Altenew on watercolor paper with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress ink and then watercolored with Twinkling H2Os.  There wasn't enough definition, so lined the outline image up with my MISTI and restamped the line in coordinating colors.  Stamped the sentiment from Concord & 9th with Versafine Onyx and heat embossed with clear ep becuase it wouldn't dry.  Layered onto to Melon Mambo and a peachy/orange cardbase.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog!

Just Us Girls #338 - Trend Week

I'm hosting over at Just Us Girls for Trend Week.  I have seen a lot of smooshing going on around blogland and decided to give it a go!  I think it makes a very soft watercolor effect.  Just smoosh some ink onto an acrylic block or your craft sheet, mist with water and stamp onto some cardstock.  So get out your acrylic blocks and smoosh some colors.

Come see what our Guest Designer - Angie Cimbala and the rest of the JUGS Design Team have created by smooshing some ink.

With everyone smooshing, I just had to give it a try!  I used Memento Teal Zeal and SU Cool Caribbean smooshed on an acrylic block, misted and smooshed onto some watercolor paper.  After it was dry, stamped the flowers from Stampendous and the senitment from Gina Marie in Memento Nautical Blue.

What colors are you going to smoosh?   Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible for a chance to be our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Purple and Yellow

A quick birthday card playing with my new stamps and dies from Altenew and Reverse Confetti.

I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

I used a pre-made card base by American Crafts.Added a Viva Decor Pearl Pen dot to the center of the flower.  The yellow panel was laying on my desk, so I just grabbed it up and went with the sketch.  I am loving the label sentiments from Altenew.

Thanks for visiting!

Music is an Art

I am so proud of my nephew!  He just had his final recital at University of Michigan as a doctorate student with the theme of  Modern Vaudeville and graduates later this month.  His recital was amazing and extremely entertaining.

I combined 2 challenges for this card:

The Card Concept in a shabby chic style for their 2nd Year Anniversary

And Cardz 4 Guyz - Something beginning with A - Music is an Art

Cardz 4 Guyz

I knew that this had to be something musical.  Stamped the music score on kraft cardstock with black ink and sponged Distress inks in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.  Used the same inks of the striped and polka dot patterned papers as well as the edges of the kraft card base.  Die cut the star and used Stampendous antique gold ep which has a slightly aged look to it and die cut the treble clef, music notes and sentiment all from black cardstock.

Just Us Girls #337 - Word Week

Lisa has me thinking "April showers bring May flowers"  with her choice of the word "Raindrops" for our Word Week Challenge at Just Us Girls!

I would like to welcome our April Guest Designer - Angie Cimbala!  Come see the raindrops on our creations by Angie and the rest of the talented JUGS Design Team.

I loved this little cloud with the heart raindrops and I paired it up with the little girl in her slicker and boots holding her umbrella.  I used a combination of Touch Twin markers and Prismacolor pencils to color the images.  Stamps are by There She Goes. I made this with my niece in mind as she is battling breast cancer.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible for a chance to be our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Delicate Flowers

Playing with some of my new stamps from Concord & 9th which seemed perfect for the challenge at Addicted to CAS - Delicate.

Stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Prismacolor markers.  It needed a little something, so I used a cream colored marker to shade the background giving it a soft, watercolor look.  A yellow gel pen was used for the flower centers.

Thank you for taking a closer look.
