A few for Christmas

I have been AWOL for a little while, but I am back for now with a few challenge cards.
I used the colors for The Play Date Cafe

And the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch

The background is a digi dp that was slate on white that was misted with eucalyptus spray ink.  Added the chevron washi tape.  Stamped the tree in slate on a green striped piece of dp and added the sentiment stamped in rose colored ink.

The November challenge at Stampendous Impressions is to use glitter.

I won this beautiful image from Stampendous and thought it would be perfect for this challenge.  Stamped on kraft cardstock then colored with Touch Twin Markers.  Added touches of glitter to the leaves and the berries.

Core'dinations Hard Core Crop Challenge on Tami Mayberry's Blog is to make a 10 minute card.

Core'dinations White Wash was embossed and sanded.  Stamped the tree and sentiment in a coordinating ink.  Die cut the image and sentiment and layered onto a white card base.  Very quick and easy.

Wow!  Long post and I appreciate you stopping by!

Great sketch at The House That Stamps Built - WHAT IF? Wednesday Sketch Challenge  http://www.thehousethatstampsbuilt.com/sketch-challenges/what-if-wednesday-sketch-challenge-a412/

I used the Gina K set by Tami Mayberry - Live Life Loud.  Stamped the sentiment, border and drum set in Memories black ink.  Used Spellbinders Inverted Scalloped Circles and regular circles and Sizzix Gears dies.  I covered the gear and the brad with Distress Crackle Paint in Tarnished Brass giving them a finely cracked finish..  Cardstock used:  kraft, black and SU Bordering Blue.

Birthday Rock Star

My niece and God Daughter's birthday is on Christmas Eve and the Sketch 220 at Mojo Monday http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2011/12/mojo-monday-220.html was a perfect fit for what I had in mind.

I used the set Live Life Loud by Gina K, illustrated by Tami Mayberry.  Stamped the drum set with Versamark and heat embossed with black ep.  The dot pattern across the bottom is Ribbon Stipes, also by Gina K.  Added silver metallic gel pen dots to the open scalloped circle.  I found the pink polka dot paper ribbon tape at TJ Maxx.  This came together very easily.

Rock Star

My middle grandson turns 6 next week and he is definitely a Rock Star!  The sketch from Mojo Monday
http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2011/12/mojo-monday-219.html  was the perfect layout for the image I wanted to use on his card.

Funny, I just realized that I used the same colors from the sketch sample.  I used Gina K's set Live Life Loud by Tami Mayberry, one of my favorites.  Stamped the guitar in VersaMark and heat embossed with black ep, then stamped the gradient rectangle with Vivid Cobblestone over the guitar.  Colored with Prismacolor green marker.  Stamped the partial sentiment with Brilliance Galaxy Green for some shimmer and punched the star out of silver glitter cs that was on sale at Michael's last week.  The border was stamped with VersaFine Onyx.

More Challenges

I managed to finish a couple of challenges before I leave on little vacation with my sisters.

First, the Moxie Fab Challenge:  Card Play  http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/09/next-challenge-in-moxie-fab-world-card.html
And it also fits the Crazy Challenge #83 Spots & Stripes
http://crazychallenge.blogspot.com/2011/09/challenge-83-spots-and-stripes.html

I know I already sent my son and his fiance an engagement card, but I made this with them in mind and will send it anyway.  I stamped the unknown sentiment Love on a strip of acetate with Memento Paris Dusk.  The triangular pieces used to attach the acetate were stamped on white with SU Night of Navy and the holes colored with Sakura Stardust red gel pen.  The striped piece as well as the triangular pieces are from Stampendous called Belts and Buckles.  The red polka dot dp is a freebie digi.  The playing cards are from a real deck of cards.

Next I needed to make a couple of little boy birthday cards, one for my grandson and one for my great nephew who were born on the same day.  I incorporated the Crazy Challenge #83 Spots & Stripes  http://crazychallenge.blogspot.com/2011/09/challenge-83-spots-and-stripes.html into this one:

What little boy doesn't like helicopters?  This is from the Gina K Set Oh Boy! by Tami Mayberry.  The helicopter and sun were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Prismacolor markers then cut out.  I added Stickles in yellow on the sun for sparkle and sprayed the helicopter with Triple Thick clear spray.   Stamped the Sentiment with SU Night of Navy.  Used a strip of polka dot ribbon by Bo Bunny.  Layered on Blue Raspberry cs by Gina K, then added the buttons tied with floss.  I bought the dp at a LSS over a year ago.

New Engagement

We are so happy, our son is engaged to a beautiful young woman that we love with all of our hearts!  I needed a card for them and the sketch from Card Patterns seem to be just the thing.

http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/2011/09/sketch-131.html

I used Happy Hearts and Many Wishes by Gina K and an unknown, unmounted background stamp.  Stamped the hearts and the sentiment with VersaMark and heat embossed with silver ep.  Cardstock used:  Gina K Pure Luxury Mother of Pearl, Turquoise Sea and Bazzill textured silver.  My Big Shot's handle broke off, so I had to dig deep to find my Coluzzle templates, knife and foam cutting mat.  Also had to dig out the flourish punch for the swirly pieces.  Popped the hearts up on dimentionals and used an open scalloped border punch.  Added the strip of pearls to finish it off.
