Just Us Girls # 592 - Trend Week

It's time for Trend Week at Just Us Girls and it's my turn to be the hostess.  I have chosen to Recycle, which is always on trend to help reduce waste.  Think about using security envelopes that come in the mail, old book pages, packaging including cardboard and plastic or anything else you can recycle onto a card.

Here with us again this week is Chrissie Stokes, our wonderful Guest Designer for June!  Come on over to JUGS to see what items Chrissie and the rest of the talented Design Team have recycled.

This uses security envelopes which have been sponged with some Distress Ink in Antique Linen.  Also used some lightweight  cardboard packaging and heat embossed the floral piece with  Stampendous Antique Gold and the sentiment in Altenew Antique Gold giving them very different looks.  I couldn't find a card base in a color I liked, so sponged on some Antique Linen and a little Old Paper Distress inks.

An old book page on this one which I sprayed with Tsukineko Eucalyptus Walnut Ink that has been in my stash for a very long time.  Die cut the flower layers and leaves from security envelopes and used various inks and Stickles to color and added a big drop of Nuvo Drops in yellow for the center.  Stamped the sentiment in black.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

You are so creative Sue! I am going to try using the mailing envelope technique very soon, lord knows I have enough of them. I Love the texture on your first card and the gold and black color scheme. As for your second card, I love the way you managed to distress the book page and the flower looks great with the pattern as well. Two great cards!

Very cool cards, and I love the challenge for this week! I remember years ago crafters using security envelopes on cards, but haven’t seen it used in a long time! I love that you made it your own by changing the color. Love both cards!

This was such a fun challenge, Sue, and really stretched our imaginations. Your envelopes make great backgrounds for your embossed flowers and sentiment. Love that you made your own card base. I often do that for sentiment strips. It's the way to go when you want a certain color.
