Just Us Girls #744 - Word Week

It's time for Word Week at Just Us Girls and it's myturn to hostess this week.  I have chosen the word Hope.

Come hop on over to JUGS to see what our fabulous Guest Designer, Nance Salkeld and the rest of our talented Design Team have created with the word Hope.

Using a failed technique background.  I tried Gina K's technique that was supposed to give this depth and look like it was embossed, didn't work for me but still wanted to use it.  Stamped the Gingko Greetings image from Unity in brown on kraft cardstock, then shifted slightly and stamped with ivory.  I tried to blend out the ivory without much success, so went to some chalk to try to blend and still not what I was looking for.  Stamped the HOPE with Memento Espresso Truffle ink several times, but couldn't get the coverage I wanted, so took an alcohol ink marker in a dark brown and colored over the letters.  Layered onto a purple layer and adhered to a kraft card base.  As long as you don't look too closely, I guess it isn't too bad.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Winner of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

This looks like you hand drew the florals and added some soft shadows! Nothing looks like a failed attempt at all! What a pretty card. on kraft cardstock! I really like the size of your "hope" too! Great word for this week!

Sue, I came right over to see your card up close - the ivory over-stamping was really successful from my view and gives those leaves great dimension/curve!

It may not have been what you intended, but it came out beautifully. I love your card - soft and gentle.

Not bad? You are crazy...this card is wonderful! Love the effect you achieved with the gingko leaves...and purple was an inspired choice. You need to love what you think are mistakes... this card reflects wonderful creativity!

I think your ginko leaves are wonderful. I can see shadowed layers that give it a popped up look. So while maybe you feel you didn't get the effect you wanted, I think it looks very cool. I like them on the kraft background and the plum trim helps them pop more.
